Primary School Fishing Initiative

A brilliant day in Lincolnshire today working with the Angling Trust and the Boston Sports Co Ordinator’s. The event took place at Westwood Lakes, Boston a new venue to me but I was very impressed with the fishery.

We had 30 youngsters from local primary schools many of which were trying fishing for the first time. With all the equipment provided by Young Anglers and the Angling Trust all was ready to go when they arrived. After a quick introduction we got the youngsters fishing with elasticated whips. Fish were being caught from the off and by lunch time they had all mastered using the whips and ready for a little competition after the break. The youngsters were catching small carp so we decided to see how many fish students could catch. Despite it being a relatively short competition a lot of fish were caught. All participants achieved their Angling  Trust ‘CAST’ Starter Award and will receive their certificates in the post together with a school ‘Participation’ certificate.

A big thank you to all the parents, teachers, sixth form student and  not forgetting the pupils, they were all fantastic. Looking forward to the next event.
